ONLINE TUITION

All online tuition is offered through the media of Zoom meetings.  It is highly recommended that your child either work on a laptop or desk-top computer.  If your child can only use a tablet, then please let me know.

ONE TO ONE TUITION

It is a well known fact that children perform better when they receive one to one tuition and online tutoring can deliver these high reaching results.  There are various factors which contribute to this, not least the fact that the student often feels more at ease with their personal tutor to clarify meaning when they don't understand.  This may seem obvious, but in a time when everyone, including very young children are concerned with image, many children would prefer to sit in silence (in a regular classroom setting), than shame themselves in front of their peers.

Working online, means that the tuition can be entirely  flexible to the needs of the child.  It can work around a child's hobbies or even holidays.  So long as there is an internet connection, it is possible to have the tuition.  Also, the child can be tutored in a location where they feel confident and comfortable.  It is this stress free environment which lends itself to the academic progress and confidence in a child.  Their tuition is tailored to meet their individual needs and progresses at their rate.

One to one sessions run for an hour and cost £30 for each session.  Some children only suit 30 minute sessions; these are chargeable at a rate of £21 per session.

If you would like to discuss booking one to one tuition for your child, please get in touch.

GROUP TUITION

For some children, working in a group has its own motivations.  Working in a group of no more than 5 children, they can still have the freedom and confidence to participate and ask questions.  Similarly to the one to one tuition, each session would be specifically tailored to the group.  Children will tend to see this as a club even though they are doing extra learning so it becomes a win-win.  They love their learning and get better and better. See my blog: The 5 key benefits of learning in a group.

The group could be brought together by a group of parents with children of the same age range to develop a specific area of learning.  For example, it may be that a group of children find working independently with their maths homework a struggle but being tutored, they all achieve the learning and the independence is nurtured.  Or perhaps your children are beginning to avoid reading and you simply don't have the time to nurture this; I could  run a reading group where we read and develop comprehension skills.  The possibilities are endless.

Group sessions (Maximum 5 children) run for an hour and cost £18 per child for each session.  Some children only suit 30 minute sessions; these are chargeable at a rate of £15 per child per session.

Please drop me an email so we can discuss your group tuition needs further.

1. Chat with Sarah

The first step would be to get in touch via email so that we can arrange a chat either by phone or zoom to discuss your child's needs further.  Whether one to one or small group tuition is best for your child.  They could join in too.

We can also discuss their interests plus any specific targets or goals you would like them to aim for.

2.  Preparation

Following this get together, we will need to complete a couple of bits of paperwork.

Then, after that, I will plan the initial learning session we have agreed on and you will receive an email which will detail the zoom session for your child.

3.  The Session

All sessions - 1:1 or groups - are conducted via Zoom.  If you need any help setting this up, then please let me know.

Please ensure that your child is somewhere where they are able to concentrate.  It often helps if they wear headphones with a built in microphone.

4.  Next steps

At the end of the session, I will email you with feedback from the lesson: What went well and what we need to work on.

With this in mind, I will enclose some homework for your child to complete ready for the next session.

Drop me an email, let's see what we can do!

HERE'S WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT
ABBEYDALE EDUCATION

"...I thought I was rubbish at Maths and English until I worked with Mrs H!  She helped me to see that I could do maths and write really well.  But best of all, she always made time to take an interest in me!"

               Maria (Aged 11)

"We're delighted with our daughter's progress.  As she is Dyslexic, she finds school quite a struggle but with a little extra help, Sarah has helped her to bridge the gaps she had in maths.  She's now confident and takes new learning in her stride!"

                               Mrs Carter,  Chester

"...it was Mrs Harrison's magic that helped me to realise that I could write as well as anyone else; just my way!"

                 Jason (Aged 12)

"Once Sarah started to tutor our son, Elliiott, he began to lighten.  And best of all, he actually started to enjoy going to school.  We really can't thank Sarah enough!  We'd worried about him transitioning to High School before but the tuition helped him to believe in himself and make progress."

       Mrs Thomas, Chester.
